From last week's NAIHL game on Wednesday. DENIED !:)

Two weeks' ago there was a great battle on Wednesday. The Nelvana Animation Ice Hockey League fielded a stellar lineup in their Post Mid Season schedule. On hand was the venerable Team White squaring off against the veteran Team Black.

Back from the Dead...

After a Long Hiatus we have a treat tonight - Rare images from the Most Recent NAHL game, post Wednesday.

It's not easy smuggling a photographer past the adoring fans, many rings of security, and those nasty pitbulls who are trained to catch onto the scent of camera plastics and glass. But it had to be done so we are able to bring you, the audience, these great little caps and vidoes.

NATL2 - Full Court Coverage

Last Thursday saw the NetDrive Court Stadium a little crowded and busy. And then we arrived. 9)

I must apologize and say "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" to that nice family who vacated the court space and gave the ashphalt over to us.

So said, we fielded full courts, half doubles and half singles matches.

Ed Speedy Hands joined us along with Daniela the Destructrix, Dean the Tower of Power and Eric The Blockbuster Gauthier. 8)

There was a nice cool breeze which threw off the shots a little that day, but much fun was had. We saw Dean take to the Courts for the first time in his life. And contrary to his protests we all witnessed those serves he landed in and bore witness to the potential power he could land with his shots. When he chose finesse over power he tended to landed some very precise lobs into the enemy territory which is always encouraging, at least for the spectators. 8)
Eddie showed us his hustle and deadly mid court reflexes while Eric surprised with many off speed and sharp angle tactics! I will never believe him again when he says that he is a casual player! More like "PLAYAH!" 9)
Dani, as usual, hit everything within reach and made us all nervous with those results!!! YoINKS! 8)

Samson's Glorious Locks...

As the mythological Samson was shaved, so to, was our Rookie Competitor, KirkJ.
Quick to join, fortunately, not as quickly to shave, shave he did.
No longer to grace the covers of Sweden's GQ monthly, passing himself off as NHL hockey superstar Daniel Alfredsson, our Fellow Soldier bid his glorious patch of lip hair, "adieu", and cast it to the wind.

Sinking Amidst a Storm....

Another Fallen soldier, from last week's ending, to honour.
RodneyK, a strong competitor from the start, ultimately had to refuse the honour of growing a mustache in face of the far stronger need to make a good impression with some very attractive members of the opposite sex.
We could point fingers, make comparisons to sinking ships amidst storms, and what not.
But in the final analysis his mustache epitaph would be written:

"It was for the better cause that he gave up his 'stache."

Update to the Mustache Roster....

Due to a bureaucratic flaw the Mustache Growers Association of the Nelvana Sports League is making an update to the Competitor Roster.

KirkJ, our resident Daniel Alfredsson look-alike, is entered, officially, in the books and the contest for Longest Lasting Mustache.

A Hearty round of Applause for our Rookie Competitor!!!!

Out like a light....

A final flurry of falling soldiers marked the end of last week.
Here, on a post by post basis, we give honour to our fallen comrades, stout but ultimately, fallen at their station.
"We who are about to Shave, SALUTE you" the Mustache-ioed Ones! :)
This particular soldier fought the good fight, and was the De-Facto Commisioner of the Mustache Growers League to boot! However, it dawned on him one night that shaving had more benefits than Not. Without going into details, he was RIGHT. Proven Right. Felt Right. It was the Right thing to do.
So saying, A moment of silence for Fallen Soldier and much loved Commisioner of the MGL.....

And Mustaches Were Present....

These past few weeks have seen a high incidence of falling soldiers.
In total, 5 souls have departed the field of battle.

For the remaining bodies, choosing growth over loss, honour over adversity, the Battle of Facial Follicle Supremacy grinds on.
For them, it is not about being JUST a Soldier.
Being a mercenary in this war. Far from it, they have graduated from Soldier to WARRIOR.
A Soldier sells themself to the highest bidder, looking for the easy out if the incentive is not right.
But a WARRIOR is a TRUE competitor. They have transcended the monetary and entered the realm of the Competitory. It is about the Competition, not being the first to go, watching your foes fall by the wayside while keeping a stiff upper lip... growth...
So let the women scream. Let the Kids run away in abject terror. Let the dogs growl and bark when you pass. Let the birds attack...your upper..uh...mustache...well..okay, you might have to do something about the birds...

BuT you ARE WARRIORS to the bitter end. The Money is but a side benefit to the hnour you gain as being the Best of the Last (which is your goal)!!! ;)

Now here, we-who-grow, present you, the WARRIORS of Round 2!!!!
The total has been whittled to firm warriors of stout heart and great courage.

Falling like ... Fallen Soldiers..

Third soldier to fall is a stalwart soul. Although he hung on amidst tough adversity, earlier this week, AlexP shaved his glorious mustache.
